PR01 - Culvert Monitoring
Blocked Culverts
Blocked culverts are responsible for up to 60% of flooding on ordinary watercourses. Climate change necessitates better data about the performance of these assets such that flooding of watercourses becomes forecastable & manageable.
Remote monitoring solutions exist but either don’t deliver the data required and are expensive (cameras) or are reactive, only notifying when a flood has already happened (water level sensors).
PR01 Culvert Screen Monitoring
PR01 is designed from the ground-up to specifically solve this problem at the price point required to enable mass adoption. We harness next-generation radar technology to monitor not just water level but also surface velocity/turbidity and measure the blockage itself.
By combining these three measurements with rainfall and other contextual parameters we build a digital twin of each asset to accurately predict flooding.
Doing so across all the assets of a watercourse enables O&M to prioritise maintenance events.
Benefits
By measuring water level, velocity/turbidity, screen blockage and precipitation – the PR01 builds a model to allow for accurate estimate of the extent of and time to flooding. This gives O&M teams the critical data they need to manage flood events across the catchment.
- Robustness – Radar requires no calibration or maintenance.
- Predictive capabilities – Measuring multiple parameters allows for more accurate.
- Proactive asset management – A more informed intelligence allows response and maintenance teams to move from reactive to proactive management.
- Cost – Multiple parameters measured with one sensor.
